Assistive technology designed for autonomy in everyday work.
Assistive digital systems that help cognitively impaired people participate more confidently in real working environments.
For Freigeist Lab, Julius co-developed an interactive kitchen assistance system used in an inclusive pasta bar concept. The aim was to help people with cognitive impairments carry out real gastronomic tasks with more confidence, consistency, and independence.
The solution combined projected web interfaces, custom IoT sensors, and Python-based control logic to guide staff step by step and adapt to different working speeds in real time. A related interactive system was also created for packaging tasks.
What makes this project notable is not just the technology, but the social design challenge: creating tools that are supportive without being patronising, and practical enough for daily use in a real commercial environment. The wider concept later became one of five winners of the German Gastro Founder Award.
